Sound Files

Prompt files, including music on hold and announcements, are configured through the Sharpen user interface by administrators with appropriate permissions.

MP3 files can be uploaded containing pre-recorded messages, or prompts can be recorded directly from within the browser.

The Sound Files page shows all of your uploaded sound files. Auto Attendant Announcements and Hold Music can be accessed here.

File Name

  • Choose a name that will provide a concise summary to easy identify later.

Type

  • The type of sound file will determine where it can be used within Sharpen.

    • Announcement —Can be used within an Auto Attendant

    • MoH —Music on Hold

Status

  • Here, you can quickly determine whether a sound file is ready to use.

    • Converting —Initial status while the file is being processed.

    • Deployed —The sound file is ready for use. Preview it with the play button.

    • Failed —The sound file failed to upload. (this could be due to an incorrect file type, or not pressing the # key, etc.)

New Recording

  • Create a new recording by uploading an mp3. Alternately, enter a phone number to record via the phone. You can pick any number, including your cell phone.

Note: While it is easy to manage a few files, we would highly recommend agreeing on a naming convention for all of your sound files. The last thing you want to do is struggle to find your file if you have hundreds of them.
