International Approved IPs

International Approved IPs

Overview

The IP Configuration section allows administrators to grant international dialing access to specific network locations. This is a security feature designed to prevent unauthorized international calls by ensuring that only devices on approved networks can place them.

International dialing in Sharpen requires two conditions to be met simultaneously; think of it as a two-step verification process:

  1. The destination country code must be authorized within Admin > Configuration > International.

  2. The device placing the call must be on a network whose public IP address is approved in this IP Configuration section.

This dual requirement ensures that even if a malicious device registers to a user's extension through a network vulnerability such as SIP scanning, it cannot place international calls unless it is also connecting from an approved IP address.

Adding an Approved IP Address

  1. Navigate to Admin > Configuration > IP Configuration.

  2. In the IP field, enter the public-facing IP address for the location you want to authorize (for example, the public IP of your corporate network).

  3. Click Save.

If you are unsure of your public IP address, navigate to Admin > Configuration > Extensions to view the IP address currently associated with each extension.

Managing Approved IP Addresses

Once saved, all approved IP addresses are listed on this page and can be reviewed, updated, or removed at any time as your network requirements change.
