Legacy: Cisco Device Provisioning

PROVISIONING CISCO SPA SERIES PHONES

Creating an extension to associate with a newly provisioned Cisco phone requires a user to be created. Creating the user, and defining the extension within the user will create the needed extension for provisioning. 

CREATE USER

  1. Launch app.sharpencx.com from your browser.

  2. Navigate to the Admin page from the top left navigation menu.

  3. Choose the Settings tab and select "manage users."

  4. From here you will see a list of all of the users on your account.


To add a new user, click the 'Add User' button at the top of the screen. A form will appear. Fill out the relevant information for that user.

  • Log user out - Log the user out of the portal and all Qs. WARNING: If a user is currently on an interaction, it will be ended.

  • First Name - User's First Name

  • Last Name - User's Last Name

  • Email - The email that will be used when logging in

  • Caller ID - The outbound Caller ID that will be displayed when that extension calls out

  • Route Agent - This determines where calls for that extension will be routed.

    • Connect - The Sharpen Connect application

    • ConnectQ - The Sharpen Q Connect application inside of Sharpen Q

    • Desk - The user's physical desk phone

    • Mobile - The mobile number associated with the user account

  • Extension - This is the extension number that will be assigned to the agent. When entering the extension you will either get a green checkmark to indicate the extension is available, or a red slash indicating the extension is already in use.

  • User Group - The group the user will be assigned to. See User Groups for more information.

  • License - The type of license assigned to the user. If you need additional licenses or have questions about the types of licenses available, please contact our sales team at sales@sharpencx.com (Note: To create a Q Agent, the Customer Care or Sales Accelerator license is required. If you remove the Customer Care or Sales Accelerator license, the associated Q Agent will be deleted.)

  • External CRM ID - If you are integrating with an external CRM application, this will hold the user's ID information.

  • e911 Location - This is the physical location for the user. This is the address that is used if the user contacts emergency services.

When you have entered all of the relevant information, press the 'add user' button.


PROVISION PHONE

  1. If the Cisco device has been provisioned to a previous provider start by factory resetting the device by pressing: Menu + 1 + 4 + Confirm

  2. ​In your Sharpen Portal, switch to the 'Admin' view

  3. Then follow these steps: go to 'Configurations' > 'Extensions' > select the extension which was configured for the user

  4. Enter the MAC address in the appropriate field

  5. Ensure you have selected the appropriate 'Device Group' and 'Device Type'

    1. ​Device Group should be Cisco in this case

    2. Device Type will be the specific SPA model in use

  6. Press 'Save' at the bottom of the screen, you should see a 'Processing' screen. Refresh page. 

  7. After completed, you will need to press the 'Manual Provision' button in the web portal (located right under where you entered the MAC address). There you will enter in the phones IP address and select submit.  PLEASE NOTE: when performing the 'Manual Provision', you must be on the same local network as the device (192.10.0.X for the computer and the phone)

  8. Your device should reboot/update firmware and when done, you will be connected to our network

  9. Should you have any questions, or your device does not connect to the network immediately, please contact us at support@sharpencx.com to schedule a time to correct the issues you are experiencing. 


CISCO ATA PROVISIONING

Use the following steps to Auto Provision a Cisco SPA8000 to the Sharpen network.

  1. Connect the device to your network.

  2. Connect an analog phone to Port 1 of the SPA 8000

  3. Press the star key 4 times (****) to enter the device's IVR(Interactive Voice Response).Follow the prompts to get the devices IP Address that was assigned via DHCP from your router. (Enter 110 #)

  4. Open a web browser on a computer located on the same local network as the device.  Enter the IP address into your browser (IE: http://192.168.1.105)

  5. Click the 'Admin' link in the top right.

  6. Click the 'Voice' Tab

  7. Click the 'Advanced' link under where you 1st click Admin

  8. Now, click the 'Provisioning' tab

  9. Make the following changes:

  10. Click 'Submit All Changes' at the bottom of the page

  11. Reboot the device

  12. After the device reboots it will most likely updated the firmware, this can take several minutes depending on your internet connection  

DO NOT POWER OFF THE DEVICE DURING THIS PROCESS.

Once the device finishes booting the lights behind the line numbers should turn solid green, meaning they are connected to the internet and ready to use.

NOTE: Once you have programed your SPA800 to the Sharpen Auto Provisioning System it will apply a password to both the User and the Admin side of the device. The username and password for both of these are as follows:

Admin:
Username: user
Password: userspa

User:
Username: admin
Password: adminspa

Please be sure you are aware of which portal you are logging into, for example you must first login the User portal of the SPA 8000 before you can click the link to log into the admin portal.  This is a requirement from Cisco and not something that Sharpen has the ability to change.
