Bluetooth Headset Troubleshooting

Summary
Some Bluetooth headsets may experience automatic volume adjustments, leading to eventual muting while in use with Chrome. This article provides steps to disable the default setting in Chrome that allows WebRTC to adjust input volume, preventing this behavior.

Issue

On many devices, a feature known as "Automatic Volume Leveling" can affect Bluetooth headset devices. This feature gradually lowers the input volume, eventually muting the agent during use.

Resolution

To prevent Bluetooth device microphones from being muted due to this behavior, follow these steps:

  1. Open Chrome Flags: In the Chrome browser, navigate to chrome://flags.

  2. Search for the Flag: Locate the "Allow WebRTC to adjust the input volume" flag within the Chrome Flags page.

  3. Disable the Flag: From the dropdown menu next to the flag, select "Disabled."

Result

By following these steps and disabling the "Allow WebRTC to adjust the input volume" flag, Chrome will no longer automatically lower or mute the input from Bluetooth devices, ensuring consistent functionality during use.

Please note that disabling this flag may affect other functionalities related to input volume adjustments in certain applications or contexts. Adjust settings accordingly based on specific requirements.
