How To Transfer on a Polycom Phone

Default Transfer Type
In the 5.5.0 firmware update for Polycom Phones a feature called Default Transfer Type was introduced. This allows the agent to set a preferred transfer method, warm vs. blind, which is initiated by tapping the Transfer button during call.

In the new firmware version, an agent may press/hold the Transfer during a call to have the option between the two methods.

Changing Default Transfer Type
To set a Default Transfer Type:

  1. Press the Menu button (Home icon)

  2. Navigate to Settings

  3. Basic

  4. Preferences

  5. Default Transfer Type

  6. Select Consultative (warm) or Blind.

Classic Transfer Options

Attended/Warm Transfer

  1. Answer the call

  2. Press Transfer Button (the caller will be placed on hold)

  3. Enter the Extension number you wish to transfer to.

  4. Wait for a moment and the phone will dial to the other extension.

  5. When the other extension answers you can introduce the call.

  6. When you are ready to transfer the call press the transfer button again.


Blind Transfer

  1. Answer the call

  2. Press Transfer Button (the caller will be placed on hold)

  3. Press Blind Button

  4. Enter the Extension number you wish to transfer to.

  5. Press the Send button after entering the extension, and the call will be transferred immediately.


Transfer to Voicemail

  1. Answer the call

  2. Press Transfer Button (the caller will be placed on hold)

  3. Enter a * and then the Extension number you wish to transfer to.

  4. Press the Transfer button after entering the extension, and the call will be transferred to voicemail immediately.
