International Approved IPs
This section allows you to grant international dialing access to a specific location. This additional step is a security feature, intended to prevent unauthorized International Dialing.
By defining a specific IP address (like the public-facing IP of your corporate network), you further secure international dialing functionality to just approved users on your network.
Restricting dialing functionality down to just an approved set of IPs makes it so that off-network devices that maliciously register to a user’s extension (through network vulnerabilities like SIP scanning) cannot make international calls on behalf of your environment.
Think of it like a 2-step verification check - in order for John Smith to make international dials to the UK, your Sharpen environment has to have the UK marked as an authorized country-code to dial (in the “International” configuration container within Sharpen Admin) and John’s device that he’s making the call from has to be approved in this IP configuration menu too.
In the IP field, add the Public IP Address for your location. If you don’t know your Public IP Address, navigate to Admin > Configuration > Extensions to view the IP address for each extension.
After saving, you can use this page to manage your approved IP addresses.
This is one article in a series covering Admin Configuration topics.
