Call Spoofing
In rare cases, you or a client may notice reports from callers where calls were made from a Sharpen client’s phone number that the agent or Sharpen client did not place. This is known as call spoofing.
According to the FCC guidelines, spoofing is explained as such:
Caller ID lets consumers avoid unwanted phone calls by displaying caller names and phone numbers, but the Caller ID feature is sometimes manipulated by spoofers who masquerade as representatives of banks, creditors, insurance companies, even the government.
If you believe your number has been spoofed, please contact Sharpen Support and provide the following details for confirmation of spoofing.
Phone number spoofed
Call Date/Time
Phone number called (of the person who reported the call)
A spoofed call will not show within call records as an outbound call. If this is the case, then the phone number has indeed been spoofed. In this case, please see the FCC’s recommendations on how to handle and report spoofing here - https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/articles/202654304-Spoofing-and-Caller-ID
