Polycom Manual Provisioning
The steps below will allow for the manual provisioning of a Polycom phone in the absence of automated provisioning.
Please note that if you intend to eventually use automatic Polycom provisioning, the settings configured in these steps will supersede those in the provisioning configuration file. We recommend a full factory reset before configuring a phone for automatic provisioning.
Preparation
Before beginning the provisioning process, it is important to fulfill the configuration items below. This can be done via the Configuration>Extensions menu within Sharpen Admin.
Ensure the Polycom device is reset via this article. (Note the default password is 456)
Logged into Sharpen, navigate to Admin → Configuration → Extensions (Search the extension you wish to provision)
Gather the username, password, and server address of the extension that needs to be provisioned to the device.
(If your server address was listed as us1.vbx555.09.f.sipvbx.com on the extension page then you would enter us1.vbx555.sipvbx.com in the Server and Address fields.)
Example Username: 5758con1409
Example Password: fWAuHO1THprLLpV0EwWzpUyMxjYCT7cz
Example Server: us1.vbx23.sipvbx.com
Log into the Polycom device by navigating in the browser to https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (ip address of the device)
If you’re having trouble finding the device's IP address, try looking in the following locations:
Local interface: Some devices will display the IP address is in the bottom-left corner of the Home Page screen (located physically on the phone).
Polycom phone menu: Using the menu browsing buttons on the device, the IP address can be found by navigating to Menu > Status > Network > TCP/IP Parameters.
Log in with the admin profile using the password 456
Navigate to “Simple Setup”
Under SIP server enter the server address and change the port to 5060.
Under Sip Line Identification Enter the display name as the agent’s full name
Address and Authentication User ID enter the Username
Authentication Password as the Password of the extension
Lastly, name the label “x EXTEN”
Save those settings.
Navigate to (Settings → SIP)
Change the Local SIP Port under Local settings to 5060
Under “Outbound Proxy” set: Address → the server address from the Extension, Port → 5060, Transport → DNSnaptr
Under Server 1 set the following
Special Interop → Standard
Address → Extension Server Address (saved from step 3a in the document, it should look something like us1.vbx###.sipvbx.com - you’ll leave out any stray numbers or characters between the vbx### server number and sipvbx.com text)
Port → 5060
Transport → DNSnaptr
Leave the rest default
Save these configurations
Reboot/Restart the phone and it should be provisioned (New Admin password will be 6311)
