Polycom Line Key Customization
In some cases, it may be necessary to change the display of a Polycom phone to include additional lines, change the display names, or add additional external contacts. The references below indicate how to perform these modifications through the Polycom web configuration tool. These steps should be taken with caution since they do not align with the default configuration which Sharpen endorses. Should you run into issues, it is encouraged to factory reset the device and re-provision to the defaults. In addition, should you have your custom configurations in place and decide to factory reset the phone, the next provision will pull the Sharpen default configuration, requiring a repetition of these steps.

Adding a New Line Key*

In a web browser, enter https://x.x.x.x (eg.. https://10.0.5.68) to navigate to your web configuration for the phone

Authenticate using Admin as the user, and 6311 as the password
Navigate to Settings>Lines
On the left side you’ll notice Line 1 through Line xx (depending on your model)
Line 1 refers to your normally registered line.
We’ll use Line 2 to add an additional line
Select Line 2
Expand the “Identification” sub-section
Enter the extension you wish to monitor into the “Address” field (eg.. 100con9999)
Leave “Label” blank
“Type” should be Private
“Third Party Name” should be left blank
Expand the “Authentication” sub section
Leave “Use Login Credentials to Disable”
Populate with “UserID” with extension you’re setting up as a second line (eg.. 100con9999)
Enter the password for the extension
To locate the password…
Admin>Configuration>Extensions
Navigate to the extension to be monitored
Scroll down to the password field
Copy the password from the field to the Polycom configuration password field
Click Save
You’ll now see a line with the Label you’ve assigned
Repeat for all necessary new lines
Note that adding a new line is effectively registering a new phone. Duplicate registration does not allow for both phones to ring as in BLF, but instead is simply an alternate registration path which can be used for outbound calls.
