Adding, Deleting, Hiding Fields in a Report

Adding fields to a report

Whether you need to add a field to an existing template/report or are building a new report from scratch, the process is the same.

First, click the [+] at the top of the Fields tab (1), as shown below. This will add a new drop-down menu to the fields tab (2)

Simply select the desired field from those available in the menu, and click Build to enact the change.

Tip: Within the drop-down, you can begin typing the name of the field you are looking for, and the results will filter in real time.

Clicking on the small blue triangle next to the [+] brings up options to either add all fields that are in the selected data source to the report, or to delete all fields in the report.

Deleting/hiding fields

Whether you build a report from a template and don’t need/want all the fields in your report or just decide to pare down the number of columns on a particular report, there are two ways to address these fields: delete them or hide them.

Deleting a field

Deleting a field removes the field/column from the report, including any relevant data.

Deleting a field is simple—click the trashcan icon next to the field's name (in the Fields tab).

Deleting a field also removes its data from the report, which is why you may want to simply hide the field, by clicking on the eyeball icon next to it.

Hiding a field

Hiding a field keeps its data (and any filters, summary functions, etc.) intact, and simply removes the field/column from view.

One compelling reason to hide a field (rather than delete it) is the preservation of a filter. Once the filter is in effect, the column doesn't necessarily need to show up in the report, especially if the filter is simple (like filtering Queue Name to only show Support Q interactions).

To hide a field/column, simply click the eyeball icon next to it in the side configuration panel.
