Remote Voicemail Access

Remote Voicemail Access

Overview

Remote Voicemail Access allows callers to reach the Sharpen voicemail system directly, without being connected to a live agent or queue first. This is useful for organizations that want to provide callers with a dedicated voicemail option, either as a selection within an Auto Attendant or as the primary destination for a specific inbound number.

There are two ways to configure Remote Voicemail Access: through an Auto Attendant or directly through an Inbound Route.

Option 1: Configure via Auto Attendant

Use this method if you want Remote Voicemail Access to be one of several options a caller can select when navigating your Auto Attendant.

  1. Log in to the Sharpen Portal as an administrator and navigate to Admin > Configuration > Auto Attendant.

  2. Select the Auto Attendant you want to configure.

  3. Click the + button to add a new option.

  4. Locate the Routing Options section.

  5. In the first dropdown field, select Remote Voicemail Access.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Place a test call to confirm the routing is working as expected.

Option 2: Configure via Inbound Route

Use this method if you want a specific phone number to route directly to Remote Voicemail Access without presenting any other options to the caller.

  1. Log in to the Sharpen Portal as an administrator and navigate to Admin > Configuration > Inbound Routes.

  2. Select the Inbound Route you want to configure.

  3. Locate the Routing Options section.

  4. In the first dropdown field, select Remote Voicemail Access.

  5. Click Save.

  6. Place a test call to confirm the routing is working as expected.
