When using the Sharpen Q Phone, you must grant the application access to your microphone, both through your Operating System, as well as your web browser. If you do not allow access to the Microphonemicrophone, the Sharpen Q Phone will be unable to function.not function properly.

Common Symptoms

  • Able to accept incoming interactions, but callers are unable to hear you

  • Outbound calls fail to connect

  • Sound for common web applications work as expected

Windows 10

Windows 10 has an added security layer to permit microphone access by the operating system and specific apps. Some apps and Windows features need to access your microphone to work as intended, including Sharpen. In Windows 10, use the Privacy page to choose which apps can use a particular feature.

  1. Select Start  > Settings  > Privacy

  2. Select Microphone from the menu on the left

  3. Check to ensure that “Allow apps to access your microphone” is set to ON

  4. Check to ensure that “Allow desktop apps to access your microphone” is set to ON

    Restart your browser and navigate back to Sharpen Q Phone and attempt to make a test call

MacOS

Much like Windows, MacOS has privacy settings to control access to the microphone. To validate access, follow the steps below.

  2. Choose “Security & Privacy”

  3. In the left pane, scroll to find “Microphone”

  4. Validate the browser in use is checked for access. In this case both Chrome and Edge are allowed.
